Children’s Dental Health Month
Every February is National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM). The month is devoted to a country-wide effort to teach children the importance of dental hygiene and maintaining a healthy smile. The month of February is a great chance to get involved in the community and also promote your office. Find a local event to participate in, or launch an your own effort to raise dental awareness in the children of your community.
There are many resources available to help reach kids in your area. Your office may opt to visit a local school to talk to the students about the importance of brushing and flossing, or the dangers of smoking. You can offer a free or discount sealant program during February, or offer coloring pages or dental goodie-bags to your young patients, etc. Use your imagination and get involved to help the kids in your area!

2016 Sugar Wars Contest
In recognition of American Dental Association’s 2016 National Children’s Dental Health Month Campaign themed “Sugar Wars”, the Harrisburg Area Dental Society (HADS) will be sponsoring a social media photo contest running Feb. 1,2016 to Feb. 19, 2016 as a way to promote the “Sugar Wars” theme. Focused on promoting good oral health habits, the contest encourages parents to show their kids battling the fight against the Sweet Tooth Invaders by posting a photo of their child brushing their teeth to the HADS Facebook Page using #smilehbg. Five random winning photos will be chosen on Feb. 22, 2016. Each winner will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card!
CONTEST DETAILS
HOW TO ENTER: 1. Visit the Harrisburg Area Dental Society’s Facebook page. 2. Post a photo* of your child brushing their teeth. All photos must use #smilehbg in order to qualify.
*The photo should be appropriate for individuals under age 18. Any photo that HADS deems inappropriate, vulgar or offensive will be removed and ineligible.
REGISTRATION: The contest begins at 12:00 pm Eastern Time (ET) on February 1, 2016 and ends at 11:59:59 pm (ET) on February 19, 2016 (the “Contest Entry Period”). Any photo received after February 19, 2016 will be ineligible. Open only to individuals over 18 years of age. Must be a legal resident of the State of Pennsylvania to qualify.
GENERAL RULES: Five random winners will be chosen on February 22, 2016. PRIZES: Each individual winner will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card. JUDGING AND WINNING: Winners will be chosen by random selection. Winners will receive an email notification and must have a valid mailing address to receive prize.
