Course Title – Mastering Restorative Dentistry: Evidence-based Treatment Protocols for Posterior Composites to Full Mouth Reconstruction
Presented By – Dr. Alan Atlas
Course Time – 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Credits – 7 CE credits (4- AM, 3 – PM)
Location – Harrisburg Country Club
Course Description –
Part 1: Less Stress Dentistry: Evidence-based Protocols for Efficiency and Proficiency in Adhesion and Posterior Composites
Course Description: Technique errors, incorrect material selection and poor patient compliance will expedite failure of posterior composite restorations. This course will provide a current scientific update of adhesives and materials to use to improve expertise and productivity. Step-by-step protocols for preparation, placement and finishing to achieve precise margins, consistent contacts and eliminate post-operative sensitivity will be demonstrated with video provided by Dental Microscope HD Video.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the scientific evidence about how, when and why adhesively placed posterior composites fail
- Describe the optimal adhesives and materials for specific cavity preparations
- Utilize simplified and innovative clinical protocols from preparation to finishing to optimize restorative procedures in both favorable and challenging clinical situations
- Achieve precise margins, consistent contacts and eliminate post-operative sensitivity
- Attain more profitability using time efficient techniques and not buying materials that aren’t necessary and don’t perform well based on the evidence.
- Understand how to help patients understand their role in extending the survival of their restorations using effective communicative skills to align patient expectations and avoid unnecessary litigation
Part 2: IMPRESS WITH SUCCESS! PREP, IMPRESS AND CEMENT USING EVIDENCED BASED TECHNIQUES FOR CERAMICS
Course Description: The rapid rise of digital technologies and ability to fabricate CAD-CAM crowns is transforming the dental profession dramatically. However, it is clear from the scientific evidence, the ability to deliver a long-term successful restoration is dependent upon many factors not experienced with the traditional fabrication methods. This course will demonstrate concise treatment planning guidelines that integrates current materials with digital technology as well as conventional clinical protocols. Procedures and techniques for esthetic and functional success with high strength ceramics and CAD/CAM technology will be reviewed and demonstrated with the Dental Microscope HD Video. Based on the most current scientific evidence, step-by-step chair side protocols from preparation to cementation for ceramic crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and veneers will be assessed.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the factors in the digital workflow affecting precision marginal fit and causing premature failure of indirect restorations.
- Demonstrate clinical protocols for anterior and posterior ceramic-based restorations from treatment planning to cementation
- Understand the materials and protocols required to strengthen the tooth with a foundational core build up restoration prior to preparation.
- Demonstrate step by step preparation techniques with the Dental Microscope HD video using specific diamonds for perfect finish lines required for all ceramic crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays.
- Utilize simple and predictable smile design methods for proper treatment planning of esthetic anterior restorations including veneers and full mouth reconstruction.
Implement innovative and efficient one visit workflows for integrating endodontic therapy with chairside scanning and milling
